FMAN Empowers Over 4000 Farmers From Kano, 6 Other States on Wheat Production

Must Try

The Flour Milling Association of Nigeria (FMAN) has empowered over 4000 wheat farmers and 100 women during the recent farming season across seven states in the country.

The states benefiting from this gesture include Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Sokoto.

The gesture by FMAN is a move towards enhancing agricultural value chain through wheat production by distributing essential inputs, including fertilizers and improved seed varieties, covering a total of 5000 hectares of farmland.

FMAN also introduced a valuable tool, the Data Green application, a mobile app designed to capture and report field data efficiently.

Furthermore, FMAN collaborated with the Lake Chad Research Institute to introduce four new wheat varieties to Nigerian farmers.

These varieties, including bread wheat, Borlaug-FMAN, Neloki-FMAN, Bayoreca-FMAN, and Cirno-FMAN, exhibit impressive yield potentials ranging from 6 to 7 tons per hectare, with maturity periods ranging from 85 to 95 days.

Ahmed Tijjani, an Agroconomist at FMAN, revealed that the association is actively implementing agricultural programs covering 4000 and 5000 hectares of land across the seven states for the 2023 farming season.
