2023 Cropping Season: Yobe Govt Distributes Subsidized Fertilizers to Farmers

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has officially launched the distribution of subsidized fertilizers to farmers for the upcoming 2023 cropping season.

Governor Buni during the fertilizer sales and distribution ceremony held in Damaturu, expressed his administration’s commitment to increasing agricultural output to improve the well-being of the people of Yobe State.

“The government purchased the fertilizers at a cost of N25,000 per bag and decided to sell them to farmers at a subsidized rate of N13,000 per bag, making it more accessible and affordable for farmers in the state” He disclosed.

Addressing the beneficiaries during the launch, Governor Buni urged farmers to make proper use of the fertilizers and not engage in its resale.

He emphasized that the government would not tolerate any act of sabotage, such as diversion or hoarding, which could lead to unnecessary hardships for the people of the state.

Governor Buni Highlighted the significance of agriculture in Yobe State, stating that approximately 80 percent of the population is engaged in both crop and livestock farming.

“With such a large portion of the population relying on agriculture for their livelihoods, the government remains committed to exploring avenues to enhance agricultural productivity” Buni assured.
