Vice Chancellors Praise Dangote’s Agricultural Revolution Impact on Nigeria

Must Try

Aliko Dangote, the President of the Dangote Group, has received praise from Nigerian University Vice Chancellors for his remarkable contributions to the nation’s agricultural sector.

During a familiarisation visit to the Dangote Urea Fertiliser plant, the university heads were impressed by the substantial financial resources invested in the project which aims to reduce the nation’s reliance on fertiliser imports and generate over $400 million in annual foreign exchange through exports to African countries.

The Committee of Vice-Chancellors, led by Prof. Yakubu Ochefu, Secretary of the committee, unanimously agreed that Dangote deserved special recognition for his role in spearheading the agricultural revolution in Nigeria through his fertiliser project.

Prof. Ochefu urged other Nigerian billionaires to follow Dangote’s example and invest significantly in manufacturing. Doing so, he explained, would not only reduce the high youth unemployment rate but also alleviate the hardships faced by many Nigerians.

Following the tour of the Dangote Fertiliser Plant, Prof. Nnenna Oti, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, praised the impressive facility and commended the synergy between Aliko Dangote and the Lagos State Government. She described their collaboration as a model of what Nigeria should represent.

Likewise, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), expressed satisfaction with the plant’s operations. She noted that the production capacity of 3 million metric tonnes of granulated urea per annum could play a significant role in resolving food problems in Nigeria.

Vishawajit Sinha, the Managing Director/CEO of Dangote Fertiliser Limited, revealed that the plant’s impressive capacity of more than 4,500 tonnes of urea per day would easily meet local demands and enable significant export opportunities.
