President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Senator Abubakar Kyari as the news Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, following a confirmation of his nomination by the National Assembly.

Senator Kyari, a prominent figure who once represented Borno North Senatorial District, brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal role.

Notably, Kyari’s political journey has been marked by significant achievements. Prior to assuming his current position, he held the esteemed position of acting national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stepping into the role in July 2023 after the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu.

Kyari’s extensive political track record dates back to his election to the House of Representatives in 1998, where he served diligently until 2003. Following this, he took on the responsibility of commissioner for water resources in Borno State, playing a key role until 2005. In a demonstration of his dedication, he was appointed as the managing director of the Rural Water Supply Agency in Borno State in 2007.

Resuming his legislative career, Kyari re-entered the House of Representatives in 2011, making a lasting impact until 2015. Subsequently, his constituents entrusted him with the role of senator for Borno North Senatorial District, a position he secured in both the 2015 and 2019 elections.

Kyari’s contributions have not gone unnoticed, as he was honored with the Nigerian national award, Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON). Moreover, he proudly serves on the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Institute of Management, reflecting his dedication to enhancing various facets of Nigerian society.
