In a recent video shared on the official Twitter page of the Nigeria Television Authority, it has been revealed that Quelea birds have unleashed havoc on farmers in Kebbi State, leading to substantial losses in the agricultural sector.

The situation has become increasingly dire as approximately 75,000 hectares of dry-season rice plantations in Argungu, Kebbi State, have fallen victim to the destructive onslaught of these avian pests.

The impact of the Quelea bird invasion has been devastating for farmers, with an estimated hundred of them already reporting the loss of their farms.

Quelea birds, known for their propensity to form large flocks, have a notorious reputation for decimating crops in a short period. Their propensity to feed on crops, especially rice, poses a significant threat to food security and the livelihoods of farmers.
