Palliatives: Kano Govt’t spends N1.6 billion on grains

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State says his administration has spent about N1.6 billion on the purchase of millet, maize and rice for distribution to the people of the state.

Yusuf disclosed this to newsmen shortly before the the commencement of the weekly Executive Council meeting at the inner chamber of the Africa House, Government House,Kano.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in Kano on Wednesday.

Dawakin Tofa said this was in addition to the five trucks of rice donated by the Federal Government to the state, assuring that modalities had already been designed to ensure that the rice reached the vulnerable people in the society.

The governor said his administration was highly disturbed by the hardships the people of the state were facing as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy.

He commended President Tinubu’s initiatives on palliatives, saying that the measure would help in easing the suffering of the people.

He also disclosed that the state government was working out a plan to provide Cows, Sheep and goats to empower women, especially those in the rural areas for self reliance and economic prosperity.
