Nigerian Youth and Women in Agriculture, an agro-based organization, has advocated for the inclusion of women and youth in the implementation of the Federal Government’s food security programmes.

Nkiruka Okonkwo, Chief Executive Officer of Fresh and Young Brain Development Initiative made the request on the sidelines of the 2023 National Agricultural Show in Nasarawa State on Thursday.

The event was organized by the National Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the All Farmers Association of Nigeria.

The theme for the 2023 Agriculture Show is “Towards the Realisation of the Presidential Declaration of Emergency on Food Security.”

Okonkwo stated that women and youths deserved to be prioritized in all plans and efforts aimed at implementing the 12-point presidential declaration of emergency on food security.

The action areas include the prompt distribution of fertilizers and cereals to farmers and households, as well as collaboration between the Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources on irrigation and all-year farming.
