Bagwai Local Government banned cattle rearing by herdsmen

Must Try

Herdsmen have been urged to refrain from animal rearing in Bagwai local government area of Kano state until after the harvest by farmers in the area.

The chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Bagwai local government, Alhaji Bello Magaji Jarumawa, gave the advice while briefing the local information officer, Tasi’u Jibo Dawanau, on the farmers’ harvest session in the area.

Alhaji Bello Magaji said that as the harvest session continues, this measure is meant to serve as a remedy for misunderstandings among farmers and herdsmen, aiming to protect lives and properties between the two parties in the area.

He expressed concern over the increasing migrant herders from Niger Republic, Chad, and Cameroon coming to Kano North, which will threaten peaceful coexistence between farmers and cattle breeders in the area.

Alhaji Bello Magaji called on the state government to urgently constitute a powerful committee to tackle the problems of migrant herdsmen flowing into the northern senatorial district of the state.

He further advised farmers and cattle breeders to live in peace and embrace brotherhood among themselves for the sustainable development of the area.
