As Armed Bandits keep on terrorising communities and Farmers in some Northwest states of Zamfara , Katsina and Kaduna , Farmers in Faskari Local government and Batsari particularly in Madogara Manawa and Wagini wards calls on for the Federal government intervention by recruiting and equipping the Agro Rangers to protect and gave solace to the local populace.
An investigation carried out by FARMERS VOICE NG, finds out Local government that are at the epicenter of the situation are Faskari, Ɗandume, Kankara, Sabuwa, Jibiya,Batsari, Ɗanmusa, Funtua and Musawa.
Speaking to the paper a resident of Faskari Local government, Nasir Faskari, lamanted the worrisome of the constant Armed Bandits attacks to the community specifically Farmers.
“As am talking to you now the Bandits are here exchanging fire with Army , you can heard it loud if you listen carefully via this phone call” .
“They abducted several people not sparing young and old be a Male or Female, and killed Farmers alot in their Farms which cause a significant set backs to the harvest and if care is not taken timely it my escalate to food insecurity within the Axis” as stated by Nasir.
According to the various farmers Interviewed that plead anomity due to the security situations , said farming become impossible as crop cultivation and cattle rearing would no longer be accessed with continued hunting and rustling of both Farmers and Cattle by Bandits.
In what they see as final solution the local farmers call and urges the federal government in collaboration with state and local government to provide or establish and equip Agro Rangers to protect farmers againts Armed Bandits during and after farm operation in an effort to further boost crop production in the state and neighboring ones too.
According to them the situation need multi dimensional approaches which a perfect solutions to it is deploying the Rangers to work hand in hand with security agencies so as to curtail the heinous activities of Bandits affecting social services ranging from education, transport , commercial activities and above all livelihood of the rural communities.
